Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of 113 known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. CBD has many beneficial properties and is used to promote wellness.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant. The human body (and the bodies of all vertebrates) produce endocannabinoids, while cannabinoids found in plants are called phytocannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) to promote homeostasis.

How does CBD work?

The human body has two receptors for cannabinoids the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Although both are found all over the body, CB1 receptors are present in the brain and deal with pain, movement, cognitive function, and mood. CB2 receptors are more common in the immune system and affect pain and inflammation, among other things. THC attaches to the CB1 receptors, whereas CBD interacts with the CB2 receptors. Unlike THC which attaches to receptors, CBD does not attach to the CB2 receptor. Rather, researchers believe that CBD influences the body’s use of endocannabinoids (promoting homeostasis).

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The human endocannabinoid system, or ECS, is a system of neurotransmitters and cell membrane receptors. Neurotransmitters such as endocannabinoids are produced by the central nervous system and interact with cannabinoid receptors on cell membranes to adjust physiological processes at a cellular level.

What is a tincture?

Commonly referred to as “CBD Oil”, a CBD tincture is CBD in liquid form. CBD extracts (isolate or distillate) are infused into medium-chain triglycerides (MCT oil) from coconuts, which serves as a carrier oil. Tinctures are ingested orally. Fill the syringe on your dropper to 1ml and squirt under your tongue. Hold under your tongue for 60-90 seconds before swallowing.

How many milligrams of CBD should I take per serving?

Your effective dose will depend on a number of factors, including the severity of your condition, the application/consumption method, and the size of the person. Suggested dosing ranges from 5mg to 50mg per serving.

Will CBD work for me?

Some of the benefits reported by CBD users include improved mood, sleep, attention, mobility, and more. However, results may vary.

Do your products contain THC?

We have one product with trace amounts of THC (Full Spectrum Tincture). The rest of our products are 0.00% THC.

What does full-spectrum mean?

Full-spectrum products are formulated with a CBD extract that has the same cannabinoid profile as the hemp biomass from which it came. RecoverLeaf uses only hemp biomass that is high in CBD, rich in minor cannabinoids, and below the legal threshold of 0.3% THC. RecoverLeaf's Full-Spectrum Tinctures are under 0.3% THC and legal in all 50 states. Please see our education tab for more details.

What are minor cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are compounds that act on the body’s endocannabinoid system that alter neurotransmitter release in the brain. Each cannabinoid interacts with the endocannabinoid differently and has different benefits. The most notable cannabinoids are CBD and THC, but there are at least 113 known cannabinoids. The other 111+ cannabinoids are commonly referred to as “minor cannabinoids”.

What is the entourage effect?

The presence of other cannabinoids and terpenes affect the way your body responds to cannabinoids in a synergistic manner in which the combined effect of CBD and other cannabinoids and/or terpenes is greater than the sum of its parts. If you would like to take advantage of the entourage effect, we recommend a Full Spectrum Tincture.

How much CBD is in your products?

RecoverLeaf believes in providing potent CBD products. However, the amount of CBD varies from product to product. Please refer to the front of each product’s label, where the amount of CBD is prominently displayed.

Are these products safe?

There are no incidences of CBD consumption causing illness. CBD is completely non-toxic, meaning you cannot overdose. Additionally, all RecoverLeaf products undergo rigorous testing to guarantee that they are free from contaminants.

Are there any side effects?

There are no known side effects. However, extremely large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

More research needs to be done. If you are taking prescription medications, speak to a qualified health professional.

Which product is right for me?

The ideal method for taking CBD depends on the reason it is being used. For most conditions, we recommend a Tincture due to its high bioavailability, precise dosing, and convenience. However, for those who prefer gummies, they also offers tremendous bioavailability. Many users also prefer topicals for certain conditions.

How long will it take to notice the benefits?

It depends on the method and dose. For products with high bioavailability like  tinctures users often report immediate results. However, most of the effects of CBD are subtle and take up to a half hour or more to be detectable. Individual results may vary.

How often can I take CBD?

It depends on the reason CBD is used, but you can use CBD throughout the day, or at particular times.

Can I take CBD on an empty stomach?

Yes, there are usually no issues when taken on an empty stomach.

What kind of testing is performed on your product?

We send samples to a third-party lab for all hemp used in processing, all extracts we produce, and each batch of CBD products we formulate to ensure purity, accurate cannabinoid concentrations, and consistency. You can also scan the QR on the label to view lab results. Our manufacturers name is Sunny Skies.

Do you test for potency, pesticide, heavy metals, and yeast/bold/microbial contamination?

Yes, at RecoverLeaf CBD, we send samples to a third-party lab for all hemp used in processing, all extracts we produce, and each batch of CBD products we formulate to ensure purity, accurate cannabinoid concentrations, and consistency. This includes testing for THC levels and potential contaminants.

Will CBD get me high?

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychotropic and is extremely unlikely to cause a high. Even our full spectrum oils contain .3% THC or less

Can your products cure/treat my condition?

CBD has not been approved by the FDA in the treatment of any condition aside from particular seizure disorders. CBD is not a cure or treatment for known diseases. Consult a physician to determine if you could benefit from using CBD.

Are hemp and marijuana the same thing?

Hemp is legally defined as cannabis with less than 0.3% of the cannabinoid THC. THC causes a high and is illegal federally. Hemp contains trace amounts of THC, is unlikely to cause a high, and is legal to possess in all 50 US states. All RecoverLeaf products except for the Full-Spectrum CBD Tinctures are 0.00% THC due to a process that removes THC from the extract used to infuse its products with CBD.

What extraction method do you use?

Like most CBD processors, we use ethanol as our solvent of choice. Although it is possible to use CO2 as a solvent to produce the highest purity extracts, ethanol has emerged as a more energy efficient and scalable alternative. It is important to note that all ethanol is removed from the extracts through a process of evaporation and distillation.

Where is your hemp grown?

Our manufacturers are licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection as an Industrial Hemp Grower. In 2019, we planted 10 acres of the strain Hawaiian Haze, and all of that crop will go into our products. We will grow more next year, but even if we grow 10x more, we will still not meet our extraction capacity. Consequently, we purchase hemp from other licensed hemp growers in the approximately 40 US states in which it is grown. Although we cannot guarantee that all of the hemp we process and use in our products is grown in Wisconsin, we will make every reasonable effort to support our local hemp growers by buying locally. Finally, we do not purchase hemp from outside of the USA.

Can I give my pet CBD?

Yes, high-quality CBD is safe for pets. We recommend that you consult with a veterinarian professional.

How is your product different from others?

We offer superior quality control by growing our own hemp and doing our own processing in our state of the art facility. We make sure our goal is to provide the cleanest products for your consumption. We are truly a premium brand.

Do your products contain gluten?

No

Does CBD have a shelf life?

CBD doesn't have an expiration date, however, some CBD products have ingredients that do. Please refer to the expiration date on the packaging. Additionally, CBD can degrade with exposure to direct sunlight, air, and heat. Products should be stored in airtight containers in a cool, dark place.

Do I need to keep my CBD products refrigerated?

RecoverLeaf products do not need to be refrigerated, but a refrigerator is not a bad place to keep your store your product so long as it is out of the reach of children. CBD products should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Exposure to air, direct sunlight, and heat can degrade CBD.

What is the difference between CBD and hemp?

Hemp is a variety of cannabis that is under 0.3% THC. It is grown for food, fiber, or CBD extracted from its flowers. In other words, CBD is a derivative of the hemp plant.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

If you are using a Full Spectrum product, there is a greater than zero chance that the trace and legal amount of THC in the product could cause you to test positive for THC. All other RecoverLeaf products are 0.00% THC. These products are not expected to cause a positive result for THC. However, RecoverLeaf cannot and does not represent or warrant as to the results that any individual may experience and advises customers to consider the risks of incorrect detection prior to use of this product.

What makes your products better?

We provide consistent, high-quality products by:

  1. Growing our own hemp and processing our own extracts
  2. Using organic growing methods
  3. Paying for third-party lab tests for all hemp used in processing, all extracts processed, and every batch of CBD products we formulate.
  4. Doing all of our processing and manufacturing in our state of the art, cGMP compliant, food grade lab in Durand, Wisconsin,
  5. Creating and following cGMP-compliant standard operating procedures for all processes, including processing, manufacturing, sanitation, maintenance, storage, etc.

Is CBD good for me if I’m perfectly healthy?

Due to its interaction with the endocannabinoid system to help support the body’s effort to maintain homeostasis, CBD is very popular among people with no health concerns seeking to optimize health as a preventative measure.
